What happens in a Session
Your first appointment will be around one hour, subsequent appointments will be no more than 40 minutes. Every patient will have an initial assessment where your medical history and full details of your current condition will be taken, then acupuncture treatment suitable for the condition.
During the session you’ll usually be asked to lie down or be seated on the treatment couch. Please wear loose fitting clothes that can be readily rolled up.
Treatment might be once a week to start with, then at longer intervals as the condition responds. A typical course could be 5-8 sessions depending on the condition.
If I feel that your condition cannot be treated with acupuncture, you will be recommended to see your GP or other specialist.
Free parking is available at DWMA. Initially I will be coming to see you in your home.

How safe is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is generally very safe and one of the safest medical treatments on offer in the UK. Serious side effects are very rare with less than 1 in 10,000 treatments.
High quality sterile, single-use, disposable needles are used in the clinic.
How does Acupuncture work?
Acupuncture activates the nerves in the skin, muscles and other tissues. Scientific research has shown that this treatment increases the release of the body’s natural painkillers, including endorphin and serotonin in the pain pathways of both the spinal cord and brain modifying how we experience pain.
